Istanbul

We crossed the border from Greece and headed straight for the city - a place we visited for a long time & it did not disappoint. From Mosques to bazaars to buzzing bars and restaurants. We didn’t realise how big it was & takes some time to cover!

Approx: 2 -3 Days

Top Things To Do:

  • Visit the Grand & Spice Bazaar

  • Visit Galata

  • Take A Boat over to Asia Side

  • Visit The Blue Mosque - remember to cover up!

  • Visit Basilica Cistern

  • Visit Hagia Sophia - remember to cover up!

  • Go For Lunch In Balat Neighbourhood

Where To Stay :

This spot is absolutely perfect - super safe and surrounded by campers. Located just outside the busy street, whilst still only 30min walk or a short bus journey - costing just £10 Per Night- location found on Park4night App!

Lake Tuz

Turkey is a big country so prepare for the long drives. If you want a stop on route, you pass through Ankara - the capital city on way! But whatever your journey, just make sure you are at the lake for sunset - it really was our fave of the trip!

Top Things To Do:

  • Watch The Sunset On The Lake

  • Get up for Sunrise for The Change Of Colour

  • Have Lunch By The Lake

  • Visit The Gift Shop

Where To Stay :

The Lake Is pretty huge, with lots of options for camping around by. We found wild camping outside the lake main entrance - a pretty popular spot - free & no issues.

Cappadocia

The absolute highlight of our 5 month trip! A place like no other if your thinking of travelling to Turkey anytime soon - whether by camper van or plane, make sure you make time to fit this place into your itinerary.

Approx: 3 Days

Top Things To Do:

  • Visit the Underground Cave Towns

  • Hot Air Balloon Ride @ Sunrise

  • Stay In A Cave Hotel - Koza Cave Hotel Is Our Fave!

  • Hike Sword or Rose Valley

  • Have Dinner In A Cave

  • Watch The Balloons @ Sunrise From A Rooftop

We tried a few different free park spots but this one was our absolute fave - waking up to a stunning sunrise and 100’s of balloons taking to the sky around you. We loved it so much we ended up staying 3 Nights more!!

Antalya

A Whistle Stop Via Konya & To the beach. We headed to Antalya - known for it’s fab beaches. Alongside the all inclusive hotels were some fab camp spots - although we hit this area in peak school holiday season, making it a little more difficult to wild camp!

Approx: 5 Days

Top Things To Do:

  • Find a Camp Spot by The Beach

  • Head to Lara Beach - Best Beach!

  • Book on one of the many Water Activities

  • Join the popular Jeep Safari to see Antalya

  • Have a Beach Day

  • Visit Side Old Town

Where To Stay :

Hitting Peak Season, the wild camping was pretty strict and camp sites were a little pricey. We managed to find a spot right on the beach, costing just 5 Euro per night, including all your facilities. Although there wasn’t a great deal around, you are just a short drive from lots of busy areas!

Kas

The hidden gem of Kas with our favourite beach of the trip and way less busy compared to the rest of the beach areas we visited in Turkey!

Approx: 3 Days

Top Things To Do:

  • Visit Kaputas Beach

  • Take a Day Trip to Saklikent

  • Visit The Canyon in Saklikent

  • Walk Around Kas Town

  • Go on a Day Trip to Kekova Island

  • Go Paragliding

  • Have Dinner in Kas Town

Where To Stay :

We stayed at a free parking area just next to Kaputas beach - perfect for beating the busy crowds in the morning and the best spot for sunset over the beach.

Fethiye

Our time in Fethiye was spent mainly in Oludeniz town. A place with stunning beaches and a buzzing area with restaurants and bars. Also a prime spot for paragliding and water activities.

Approx: 5 Days

Top Things To Do:

  • Visit Oludeniz Beach

  • Take a Cable Car & Watch the Paragliders From Above

  • Spend the day at A Beach

  • Go Paragliding

  • Visit Fethiye Old Town

  • Hike to Butterfly Valley View Point

Where To Stay :

We stayed at a free parking area just next to Oludeniz Beach and were surrounded by locals also camping. With toilets and showers on the beach, it’s the perfect location.

Pamukkale

Another just WOW moment on our Turkey trip - known for its natural forms and hot springs, this place was pretty dreamy and not to be missed! Also the best Roman Amphitheater we found on the trip.

Approx: 2 Days

Top Things To Do:

  • Visit the Travertines of Pamukkale

  • Visit the Cleopatra Antique Pools

  • Visit the Roman Amphitheater

  • Go Paragliding or take a Hot Air Balloon

  • Watch the Hot Air Balloons @ Sunrise

  • Visit the Ancient City of Hierapolis

Where To Stay :

We stayed at a paid parking area located right out side the site entrance, which allowed 24 hour parking. The perfect spot to beat the crowds and plenty of bars/ restaurants around by.
